Mr. Gerstner is the Founder and CEO of Altimeter Capital, a tech investment firm based in Silicon Valley. Started in 2008, Altimeter manages over $15bn of investments across its public equity fund and venture capital funds. Altimeter's cultural North Star is Essentialism - the art of doing less better. Accordingly, Brad believes organizational and portfolio complexity are the enemy of returns. He believes in small teams but strong cultures built around excellence, integrity, impact, and fun.

Prior to starting Altimeter, Mr. Gerstner founded or co-founded 3 internet search companies, the last of which was sold to Google in 2012 and became Google Hotel Search.

Mr. Gerstner’s family foundation - Give Forward - is helping to lead the school turn around in East Palo Alto as well as poverty relief in the Bay Area. He is also the Founder of The Board Challenge, a movement drastically accelerating the rate of diversity on corporate Boards.

Born in Indiana, he studied at Wabash College, Oxford University, Indiana University School of Law and Harvard Business School. He practiced securities law and served a term as Indiana Deputy Secretary of State before returning to HBS.

Brad lives in Woodside, CA where he loves to chase after his two boys Lincoln (12) and Jack (10), run, bike, ski and surf. If you are talking to him during the week, there are equal chances he is at his desk or riding his electric one wheel down Sand Hill Road.
